Allie's Gift
Year:
2003 (in post production)
Length: 12m
Format: super 16mm

Synopsis:
Allison a nine year old girl merges reality, fantasy and a creative imagination
with the help of her Grandmother in order to help herself and her mother
Lillian, understand and cope with life’s obstacles. Lillian shows
resentment towards her daughter and her own mother’s loving and creative
relationship. Blaming her mother for instilling false hopes and for her
own failed dreams, Lillian distances herself from the land of make believe
that Allie and Grams share. Lillian breaks one afternoon and after reprimanding
Allie, accuses Grams for her own unhappiness. Grams passes away that evening
and Lillian is left feeling guilty about her mother and unable to communicate
with her daughter. It is then that Allie with guidance from Grams, reaches
out to her mother and bridges that gap, bringing Grams and the world of
fantasy back into Lillian’s heart.
